Our mission statement clearly defines Sinapi and its services as an organization that aims at providing opportunities for enterprise development and income generation for the economically disadvantaged to transform their lives.  In Sinapi Aba Trust, we provide the following services in the process of assisting in the development of micro enterprises in Ghana:

Financial Services

This involves the provision of loans to clients base on an assessment of clients’ business operations.  There are limits to the amount of loan that a client can obtain at first and in subsequent loan cycles, but in most cases, the nature and size of clients’ business, rate of turnover (cashflows) and experience determine the amount of loan that one can obtain at any time.  Second, third, and subsequent loans (follow-on loans) are normally higher in value than first time loans.

Management Training Services

In Sinapi, loans are not given to anybody without some form of business or management training.  As good stewards, we feel obliged to ensure that all monies given are effectively and efficiently invested and repaid on time.  To end, we provide basic management training and saving skills as a prerequisite for accessing our resources.  In our group lending for instance, we provide two months training before loans are disbursed.  Clients are also offered training during annual clients’ conference/forum which normally last for two to three days. 

Monitoring and Supervisory Services

Project officers do not sit unconcerned after disbursement of loans but visit each client at least once in every loan cycle to ensure that the loans are used for the purpose(s) for which they were given and offer timely advise where necessary.  Monitoring has being helpful to both clients and Sinapi in promoting good officer/client relationship and hence repayments.

Social Services

The old thinking that the poor need only financial assistance to break away with poverty is no longer valid.  In microfinance business today, the maxim or slogan is ‘credit with education’.  For this reason, we sometimes collaborate with other specialized institutions like the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) and other health institutions to educate our clients on socially related issues that affect their lives.  Due to strong officer/client relationship in Sinapi, officers offer advice on children’s education and sometimes go to the extent of helping to resolve complex marital problems.  

The transformation of the poor extends beyond the provision of credit or loans.  It involves every aspect of the whole being (i.e. it is holistic).  As a Christian organization that does not discriminate in the provision of loans to the poor, we also advice our clients to be good and responsible citizens of their communities and Ghana.

Consultancy Services

Although, this was not part of the initial services the company used to provide but our professional with such experiences has made it workable.  Sinapi’s depth of experience and diversity of skills enable our professionals to offer cutting-edge advice that is tailored to special clients’ needs and local realities.  In this area, our hallmark is the successful completion of projects in the face of time constraints and difficult circumstances.  Our professionals draw on a large reservoir of researched knowledge to analyze clients’ problems and provide clear and cogent solutions tailored to suit specific client needs.

Some of the services we provide in this area include training of staff of other microfinance institutions (e.g. Community Action Development - CAD and SUSU Collectors Association in Ashanti), preparation of business plans, drafting proposals, feasibility reports, and financial statement analysis for a number of clients among other things.
